In response to the overall appeal of cans in the craft beer market, we are excited to announce the addition of a canning line: starting with our flagship brand, Hop Dang Diggity. Cans will be available throughout all of our key markets across the state of Georgia, as well as in Chattanooga and Nashville, Tennessee and in Charleston, South Carolina beginning in early November. The state of the art canning line uses a counter pressure filler, filling up to 55 cans per minute. Co-Owner and BrewMaster Josh Rachel shared, “The past 6 months have been exciting for us at Jekyll. We have made key investments in our production processes to improve the overall quality of our beer – including a new 50 BBL brew house, dry hop machine and centrifuge. We are thrilled to announce our Fall 2016 launch of cans – initially offered in Hop Dang Diggity, and our new Lager.”
Increasing production to include cans provides our loyal customer base with added convenience and choice. Cans are largely the preferred (and sometimes only) option for outdoor activities. They are perfect for tailgating season and enable Jekyll beers to be sold at additional venues, such as concerts and sporting events. According to the Brewers Association there are several other benefits of cans. Cans are lighter than bottles, reduce CO2 emissions in shipping and are incredibly recyclable. Cans also block light and are an effective barrier to oxygen – meaning the only thing limiting the freshness of the canned beer is the time it takes to get from the brewer to a beer-lovers mouth.
Coming in early November is the release of the Jekyll Brewing Lager. This new addition to our portfolio will be produced solely in cans. “In creating our Lager, our goal was to provide consumers with a lighter, high quality craft beer. We felt a Lager tapped into an unmet need in the craft space. Our Lager is a good entry point for folks who are new to craft,” shared Rachel.
As autumn in Georgia is widely known as the best time to enjoy the outdoors, our release of cans comes at a perfect time. From tailgating to hiking, fans are encouraged to share photos of where they enjoy their cans on our social media pages. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for additional news and updates.
